Mah Human dev mission set up;to focus on 12 districts

Mumbai, May 31 (UNI) The Maharashtra cabinet today approved the setting up of the state human development mission, which will focus on uplifting the socio-economic status of 12 extremely backward districts in the state.

The 12 districts are Aurangabad, Parbhani, Latur, Nanded, Jalna, Hingoli, Beed, Osmanabad in Marathwada, Nandurbar in North Maharashtra and Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Amravati in Vidarbha.

The Mission will be headquartered in Aurangabad.

It will complement the existing National Rural Health mission and Rajmata Jijau Mother-child health and nutrition mission and ensure that the human development index in the state is enhanced.

A Human Development Regulatory Board, headed by the Finance Minister will be set up to take policy decisions. Secretaries, Chief Secretary, ministers of Public health, women and child welfare, school education, employment and self employment, industries, agriculture, animal husbandary, dairy development and fisheries, rural development will be members of the board.

The Mission will take the help of NGOs to make the objective more effective. Similarly, Human development committees at the district, taluka and village level will also be set up. Putting an end to child marriages, encouraging family planning, women and child health, reducing infant mortality, increasing literacy and making available educational facilities among other things.
