Judicial remand for 'Alukkas Robbery Case' accused

Hyderabad, May 31 (UNI) A local court here today remanded two of the accused in the sensational 'Alukkas Robbery Case' to judicial remand till June 13.

Vinod Rambali Singh and Ajay Jawahar Singh, brought to the city from Mumbai by Hyderabad Police, were produced before the III Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate who remanded them in judicial custody till June 13.

Earlier, the Central Crime Station (CCS) sought police custody of the accused for 15 days. The court reserved the orders on the plea for tomorrow.

The Rs six-crore diamond jewellery heist from the Alukkas showroom at the posh Panjagutta area on the intervenning night of May 14 and May 15, sent shock waves among the people as the showroom was located very close to the police station.

On May 19, the Mumbai police arrested the accused and recovered the booty. However, one Srikanth managed to escape.

They were remanded in judicial custody till May 30. The duo were also wanted in another jewellery heist last year at Borivili in Mumbai.

Police said Vinod, involved in 18 cases of dacoity and robbery in was kept out of Mumbai under the city police act. He was released from a Mumbai jail on March 25 this year.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy announced a reward of Rs ten lakh each to Mumbai and Hyderabad police for arresting the culprits.
