Illegal ILD exchange raided at Chennai
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) The vigilance and telecom monitoring cell of Department of Telecom (DoT) organised a raid along with the help of Chennai police and busted one illegal telecom network set-ups for receiving international long distance (ILD) calls.
This illegal set up was operational for last two months at Parrys. The illegal ILD set up was using eight telephone lines for PSTN connectivity and was bypassing the authorised and licensed ILD operators.
Apart from causing revenue loss to the country, this set up was also posing a threat to the national security as international calls handled by this set-up could not be lawfully monitored, an official release said today.
Police have seized all the high-tech equipments found and is further investigating to nab the kingpins of the illegal ILD call operations in India and abroad. One person has been arrested in this connection.
