Four cars catch fire after heavy squall, two buried under tree
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) A heavy squall that hit Delhi this evening led to four cars catching fire at Daryaganj in Old Delhi, while two people were injured when a tree uprooted in the squall crashed on them at G B Road.
Fire brigade sources said the heavy squall, blowing at 50 km per hour, led to the uprooting of an electric pole at Ansari road in Daryaganj which resulted in four cars catching fire.
No reports of any injuries in the incident were received, the sources said.
In another incident at G B road, two people were trapped under a peepal tree which fell due to the squall. The two were, however, extricated by the passers by who admitted them to a nearby hospital.
In another incident earlier in the day, a car caught fire on the Moolchand flyover at 1230 hours. Two fire tenders were rushed to put out the blaze. No injuries were reported in the incident.
This is the second incident in the capital of a car catching fire. On Monday night, a car caught fire in Jangpura area leading to death of its two occupants.
