Flight safety stressed at Army Aviation meet
Chandigarh, May 31: The annual Army Aviation Conference of the Western Command was held at Command Headquarters in Chandimandir Cantonment, near here, today.
Chief of Staff, Western Command, Lt Gen Paramjit Singh, who chaired the conference, congratulated the Army Aviation Corps for its excellent performance during the previous year and also complimented all personnel for their contribution towards achieving an accident-free year in the command.
He emphasised the need to further promote ''Flight Safety'' which is an end product of synergised efforts of the aviators and the ground staff involved in flying and maintaining the aircraft.
Lt Gen Singh presented the Flight Safety Trophy to R and O Flight for having been adjudged as the best flying unit in the Command Zone for the year 2005-06, based on their operational proficiency and flight safety achievements. Lt Col I P S Chahal received the trophy on behalf of the unit.
Senior officers from the Army Headquarters and service officers dealing with aviation were present at the one-day conference.
