Criminal case against AIADMK MLA Pandurangan registered
Chennai, May 31 (UNI) A criminal case has been slapped against former Minister and AIADMK MLA K Pandurangan for allegedly preventing the police officers from discharging their duty.
Mr Pandurangan, elected to the State Assembly from Anaicut constituency in Vellore, vehemently argued with the police at the entrance when the suspended AIADMK legislators were denied entry into the Secretariat complex yesterday.
Senior AIADMK legislators, including O Panneerselvam, D Jayakumar, K A Sengottaiyan and M Thambidurai, were also present when the incident occurred.
During the course of heated arguments, Mr Pandurangan had allegedly threatened the police officials and prevented them from discharging their duties, police said.
On a complaint received from the Sub-Inspector of Police on duty at the Secretariat entrance, Cases under Sec 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the IPC were registered against Mr Pandurangan.
