CPI increases by one point in April
Shimla, May 31: All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001-100 for April this fiscal increased by one point and stood at 120 points.
The rise and fall in index varied from centre to centre, while recording the highest increase of four points in Raniganj in April as compared to March.
The index recorded an increased of three points each in six centres of Surat, Srinagar, Pune, Labac-Silcher, Tripura and Guwahati, two points each in 20 centres and one point each in 31 centres.
The indices decreased by one point each in five centres of Kanpur, Monghyr-Jamalpur, Faridabad, Chandigarh and Darjeeling, while remaining stationary 15 centres the index remained stationary.
Raniganj centre recorded the maximum increase of four index points due to increase in the prices of arhar dal, masur dal, moong dal, vegetable and fruit items, pan and readymades.
Kanpur, Monghyr-Jamalpur, Faridabad, Chandigarh and Darjeeling centres experienced a decrease of one point each due to the fall in the prices of wheat and wheat atta.
Mumbai recorded a high of 123 points, followed by Bangalore 122, Delhi, 120, Kolkata 118, Ahmedabad 116 and Chennai 115.
The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers for May this year would be released on the last working day of June.
