Attempt to rob comedian Srivastav foiled

Mumbai, May 31 : Quick thinking by the teenaged daughter of comedian Raju Srivastav helped to nab two of the three robbers who had broken into their house.

The three people visited the flat of Srivastav at Marigold in Andheri West yesterday at 1415 hours.

After they were told that Raju was on a tour abroad, they told his wife that they had come regarding some shows, which Srivastav had promised them he would do.

After entering the house, they asked for a glass of water and when she went to fetch the water, they followed her and tied her hands and legs and tried to stuff her mouth with a cloth. However, she started screaming for help, which her teenaged daughter, who was also in the adjoining room heard and then she yelled for help.

This created panic among the robbers and they tried to flee, but the watchman was able to catch one Shagir Ahmed and Juluskar Choudhary, who were later handed over to the police. However, one of them managed to flee.

The police were carrying out investigation.
