When Chief Minister Apang turns police
Itanagar, May 30: Sniffing loss of forest resources, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang turned to act policeman while travelling and seized two timber laden trucks here.
Mr Apang while moving in his car noticed the trucks were carrying unmarked timber and jumped off his car to seize those at Jotte-Balijan road near state zoo yesterday, official sources said today.
He, was, however, aided by the state forest officials.
After seizing the trucks, Mr Apang expressed displeasure over the movement of such unmarked timber and called for strict checking of illegal activities.
Calling for immediate halt of such leakage of state revenue, the Chief Minister wondered if such incidents occur in the state capital, what would happen to other parts of the state?
