Weekly salaries to labourers under NREGP: CM

Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government would pay salaries to the workers every week under the National Rural Employment Gurantee Programme (NREGP) in future.

According to a press release here, Dr Reddy said the government was paying salaries to the beneficiaries of the NREGP every fifteen days through post offices but it would be paid from every week now.

claiming that the state topped the implementation of the NREGP in the country, he said 100-days employment would be provided to the job-card holders and Rs 80 would be paid equally to men and women for seven hour work.

Calling upon the people's representatives to educate the poor about the NREGP and take steps to join them as members of the scheme, Dr Reddy said the government was committed to providing employment to all eligible in the future.
