New Delhi, May 30 : Blaming the UPA government for precipitating a national 'crisis' on the reservation issue, veteran BJP leader L K Advani today said the party should frame its policy keeping the youth in mind.

''Today HRD Minister's ill-considered moves to gamble with the institutions of excellence which has earned for India respect the world over as a knowledge society has precipitated yet another crisis,'' Mr Advani said at the two-day BJP Executive which concluded here today.

Mr Advani, who had recently mooted the idea of a setting up of a panel to review the benefits of the quota, said that it was not a minor matter that senior members of the Knowledge Commission have publicly protested against the Government's moves.

''Let the BJP respond to this crisis by giving the people a correct lead, we will once again convert this situation also into a valuable opportunity for the party,'' Mr Advani said.

Pointing out that as per the Asian Development Bank, 60 to 70 percent of India's population is in the 20 to 30 years age group, Mr Advani said that no other country has so massive a youth component.

''This section has high expectations from the BJP. While framing policy, we must never forget this section,'' he reminded.

Mr Advani also stressed the need for BJP supporting Telangana issue as the UPA government's track record in Andhra Pradesh has been dismal. It has inflicted on "Andhra Hatya (murder), Atma Hatya (suicide) and Vishwasghat (betrayal)--Hatya by Naxalites, Atma-hatya by farmers and Vashwasghat by Congress on Telangana," he said.

He said that the distortion of BJP despite being the single largest party being out of power has been corrected in Karnataka.
