Two RCF employees killed in explosion

Mumbai, May 30: Two employees of Rashtriya Chemicals&Fertilizers Limited (RCF) were killed in an explosion that took place in the melt pipeline of Ammonium Nitrate Phosphate (ANP) plant of the company early today.

RCF Deputy General Manager P T Desai said here an explosion took place in the melt pipeline of ANP at about 0400 hrs in which two operators working in the area were killed. The deceased have been identified as Kiran Sawant (46) and Nitin Adhikari (41).

No other injuries or damages were reported and the exact cause of the explosion is being investigated, Mr Desai added.

The fire that broke out due to the explosion has been brought under control. Four fire engines, two water tankers and an ambulance were pressed into service, fire brigade sources said.
