SC to decide on Babloo Shrivastava parole

New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) The Supreme Court will hear on June 8 a petition filed by Om Parkash Shrivastava alias Babloo Shrivastava popularly known as Natwar Lal seeking eight weeks' parole to renew his family ties.

The alleged gangster who was extradited from Singapore on August 31,1995 for being tried in four criminal cases pending in India against him, is also seeking damages from the Union government to the tune of Rs. 100 crores for violating the terms and conditions of his extradition as the state has registered 12 cases against him instead of four.

The petitioner is also seeking directions from the apex court to the Centre and state of UP and Maharashtra to stop further violation of terms of extradition.

According to the petitioner who is in jail for last over 12 years, he has already been acquitted in nine out of 12 cases.

A vacation bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and Lokeshwar Singh Panta today directed the petitioner's consel Deepak Messy to serve the standing counsel of Uttar Pradesh with the copy of the petition before June 8.

One case is pending in Delhi while one is pending in Mumbai and two others are pending in UP as per the terms of extradition. Cases include murder, extortion and kidnapping.

The petitioner who is in solitary confinement in Delhi has also alleged that he was not being given proper medical treatment despite the orders of this court.
