Pakistan vows to carry forward peace process with India
Islamabad, May 30 (UNI) Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz today reiterated his country's commitment to carry forward the composite dialogue process with India.
He said this during talks with his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, who paid a day long visit to Pakistan.
Mr Aziz said he had apprised the visiting UAE Premier of the regional situation and the current state of Pakistan-India peace process and said the composite dialogue with India was going apace.
He said his country wanted the process of issue management to move to issue resolution to arrive at an early settlement of the Kashmir issue.
He said Pakistan desired a resolution in keeping with the wishes of the Kashmiri people to establish sustainable peace in South Asia.
Mr Aziz stressed that Pakistan was a peaceful country, committed to promoting peace and prosperity in the region by maintaining minimum credible deterrence.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates vowed to further strengthen ties in all spheres especially in economy and trade, defence and security, besides investing in mega infrastructure development projects.
The two countries also signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for co-operation in development of infrastructure, industrial and real estate and banking in Pakistan.
The signing of the MoUs was witnessed both the Prime Ministers.
Al-Maktoum discussed the whole gamut of relations and decided to further strengthen co-operation in diplomatic, economic, political, defence and security fields.
The Pakistan Prime Minister invited the investors and businessmen from the UAE to tap the tremendous real estate potential in Pakistan and bid for various infrastructure projects in the country including roads, rail and ports, official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.
UAE is the largest investor in Pakistan and has shares in Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), airlines, financial business, real estate and tractors. It has invested over 2.5 billion dollars in different projects in the country.
