Vadodara, May 30 (UNI) Sixteen resident doctors, belonging to SC, ST and OBC, disassociated themselves from the ongoing medicos' strike here today.

The doctors, who reported for duty at the SSG civil hospital today, were said to be annoyed with some offensive statements reported in some section of the media against the medical students of reserved categories.

According to hospital in-charge superintendent Dr R N Daveswar, all the 16 resident doctors were non-clinical staff and had resumed their duties in three different departments.

However, Junior Doctors' Association (JDA) president Dr Dhiren Thakkar said only a ''small and isolated group had disassociated itself from the indefinite strike over a trivial issue''. Denying that the decision of the group to withdraw from the indefinite strike would have any impact, he said, over 150 other resident doctors belonging to the reserved categories were still on strike supporting the anti-quota stir.

Dr Thakkar said the result of the opinion poll conducted by the striking doctors in the city yesterday was very encouraging as about 85 per cent of the 45000 votes polled had gone against the government's 27 per cent reservation proposal for OBCs in higher educational institutions.
