MCX index closes 28.41 pts up at 2357.66

Mumbai, May 30 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 3,332.45 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2357.66 up by 28.41 points (1.21 per cent).

The total trades registered were 50,846.

The MCX metal index closed at 2715.74 up by 47.82 points (1.76 per cent), while MCX energy index closed at 2777.78 up by 49.84 points (1.79 per cent), and MCX agri index closed at 1579.45 down by 12.44 (-0.79 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 2,149.14 crore, including various MCX gold at Rs 1,422.09 crore and MCX silver at Rs 727.04 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 25,577. The open interest for gold was 9,474 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 2,63,720 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 461.04 crore with 9,436 trades, while MCX aluminium recorded a turnover of Rs 18.93 crore with 579 trades and MCX zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 161.07 crore with 1,810 trades.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 131.76 crore with open interest of 3,68,300 BBL.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 150.18 crore with 2,166 trades and mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 88.60 crore with 3,456 trades while chana registered a turnover of Rs 33.52 crore with 1,024 trades.

MCX gold June-06 closed at Rs 9,778 up by Rs 117 (1.20 per cent), August closed at Rs 9,965 up by Rs 111 (1.11 per cent) and October closed at Rs 10,138 up by Rs 92 (0.91 per cent).

MCX silver July-06 closed at Rs 19,770 up by Rs 428 (2.16 per cent), September closed at Rs 20,301 up by Rs 323 (1.59 per cent) and December closed at Rs 21,021 up by Rs 435 (2.07 per cent).
