London, May 30 (UNI) Having Brian Lara back as captain has made a huge difference to the fortunes of West Indies team, which after a long time is showing some fighting spirit, feels former captain Jimmy Adams.

Praising the team for its 4-1 series win over India, Adams said Lara's re-appointment as captain was the primary reason for the triumph.

''Having Brian back as captain has made a big difference. The youngsters have responded to him and that's good to see,'' he told ''BBC Sport.'' Adams said he saw the Windies play well after a long time and the back-to-back victories over Zimbabwe and India have created a positive feeling about the team's future.

''It's a good feeling in the Caribbean at the minute with the team playing good cricket,'' he said.

''Really, this is the first time in a long time that it looks as though we've got a team on the park,'' he added.

Adams also praised dynamic right-hander Ramnaresh Sarwan for his match winning knocks of 98 and 115 against India and the bowlers who sealed the series in Trinidad in favour of the hosts.

''Ramnaresh has struck some big scores back-to-back in this series,'' he said, adding, ''It's what we've been looking forward to for a long time from him. We've always known he was capable of getting big scores. It's just that elusive consistency that had been lacking and he seems to have turned the corner.'' Calling all-rounder Dwayne Bravo the biggest find of the series, Adams said, ''He only came into international cricket a couple of years ago but he's so talented and looks to be maturing very quickly which is a good sign.''
