Lady nurse stripped inside a PHC in Orissa

Kendrapada, May 30 (UNI) An Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) was allegedly stripped and molested inside a Public Health Centre(PHC) near here yesterday.

Police said a 35-year old woman serving as ANM in the Kurtunga PHC alleged that she was stripped and molested by the relatives of a pharmacist of PHC in a room of the hospital under Kendrapara police station while on duty.

In her FIR, Satyapriya Swain alleged that one Pradeepta Jena and his supporters came to the Kurtunga PHC on the pretext of searching his brother-in-law Hrushikesh Mallick, working as a pharmacist.

Later, Pradeepta Jena and his associates allegedly stripped her inside the PHC and tried to outrage her modesty.

Police have registered a case under section 294,354,506,341 and 34 IPC and conducted an inquiry in this matter.

Meanwhile, about 200 villagers led by Renbala Jena, wife of Hrushkesh resorted to road blockade at Angulai-Ortaghat road near Kurtunga for two hours, demanding the transfer of the ANM and the pharmacist.

They later withdrew the road blockade when the Assistant District Medical Officer(ADMO) promised them of taking adequate steps for transferring them.
