New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) A large number of residential plot owners in Greater Noida face the risk of cancellation of their allotments, with the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) issuing a deadline for people who have failed to construct houses within the stipulated time period.

The Authority plans to give time till April 2007 before initiating the cancellation of plots, GNIDA officials said.

About 1,200 allottees, who are yet to build their houses after the plots were allotted to them over 10 years ago, are in the firing line. All these defaulters will also have to shell out a higher fine of 4 per cent of the sector rates as well, as compared to a fine of two per cent earlier.

Close to 10,000 residential plots were allotted by GNIDA in sectors Alfa, Beta, and Gama in 1994, where the Authority plans to initiate penal actions first before extending it to the rest of the township.
