Freedom fighter Venkatasubbiah passes away

Tirupati, May 30: Freedom fighter and RSS leader Akula Venkatasubbiah (79) passed away in his sleep at his residence here yesterday.

He is survived by his son and four daughters.

According to family sources, Mr Venkatasubbiah, who actively took part in the Goan liberation and Bangladesh freedom struggles, was a noted RSS activist being a member since its inception.

Mr Venkatasubbiah later joined the Jan Sangh and the BJP. He was jailed during the emergency.
