Bangarappa optimistic about third front
Gulbarga, May 30 (UNI) Former Chief Minister S Bangarappa today said he was optimistic about the formation of a third front in the near future as he had received favourable signs from the Left parties.
Addressing a press conference here, he said he had discussed the issue with Leftist leaders Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechuri and they had reacted positively.
''Some political leaders belonging to various parties have reacted positively to the proposed third front, opening the doors for such a front,'' he added.
Mr Bangarappa criticised the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre for having failed on all fronts. ''The chances of survival of the UPA Government are bleak since the Left parties are vehemently opposing the decisions being taken by the UPA Government,'' he opined.
Though a hike in price of petroleum products was inevitable, given the Rs 76,000 crore deficit in oil pool, the Left parties were opposing the hike, he pointed out.
Blaming the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government in the State for neglecting people's problems, he alleged that fissures within the BJP had crippled the administration.
