AP govt to distribute text books to school students
Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Primary Education Minister N Rajya Laxmi today said the government would distribute text books free of cost to the students studying in government schools during this academic year.
Addressing the press here, he said 7.10 crore books would be distributed to 1.05 crore students studying upto class ten. Already 6.04 crore books were published and the remaining would be published within a week.
Stating that 4.98 crore books were sent to the districts for distribution, Ms Laxmi said the books would be distributed in 1,127 revenue mandals and 210 urban area government schools.
The government has withdrawn the subsidy on the books given to private unaided schools from this year, she said the government has allocated Rs 74 crore to publish books during this academic year.
Expressing confidence that the government would distribute books to all students in government schools, she said the prices of text books published by the state government had been increased from this year.
