AP CM to lay foundation stone for thermal power project

Warangal, May 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the 500 MW National Thermal Power project at Bhupalpally in this district on June one.

The Rs 2077-crore project funded by the Rural Electrication Commission (REC) will start generating power by the end of November 2008, APGENCO Superintendenting Engineer Rama Mohana Rao told UNI.

At present Rs 23 crore had been sanctioned for land acquisition.

While the contract for civil works was awarded to ABC company, other related project works would be given to BHEL, he said adding that Ministry of Coal had sanctioned 2.13 million tonnes of coal from Kakatiya coal mines for the proposed thermal power project.

One tmc water from river Godavari, required for the project would be brought from Kaleswaram canal through pipelines. For this, construction of a reservoir was being taken up near Neredpally, four km from Bhoopalpally, he said and added that employment opportunities would be provided for oustees who lost their land for the project.
