553 Amarnath pilgrims registered in Jammu
Jammu, May 30 (UNI) Registration for this year's Amarnath Yatra, commencing from June 11, began here and 553 pilgrims registered their names.
Official sources said 553 pilgrims got themselves registered at different counters of Jammu and Kashmir Bank at Exhibition Ground on the first day of the registration yesterday.
There was a heavy rush of people waiting in queues for the registration being held daily from 1500 hrs to 1800 hrs.
The two-month-long Amarnath Yatra will commence from June 11 and will culminate on Sawan Purnima falling on August 9. Ten lakh devotees were likely to visit the holy cave this year.
Registration also began at the district headquarters of Srinagar, Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri and Poonch.
Earlier, the registration at 93 counters in 19 states and two union territories was announced to begin from May 25 but it only began yesterday.
