Three new JKPSC members administered oath
Srinagar, May 29 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Mohammad Shafi Pandit today administered the oath of office and secrecy to three newly-appointed members.
The members are Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department M M Bhat, Chief Wildlife Warden R L Bharti and former Principal to Government Medical College, Jammu Dr H L Goswami.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pandit said the appointment of new members will help expedite the recruitment process in the state.
''The Commission aims at completing the process of selection within the period of four to six months from the date of reference of vacancies,'' he added.
However, the PSC Chairman said this required removal of certain deficiencies on account of personal and infrastructure for which necessary proposals have been sent to the state government.
At present, 3051 vacancies stand referred to PSC for recommending suitable candidates against the post already notified, he said, adding 52,708 applications have been received and were being processed at different stages in scrutiny and selection process.
Mr Pandit said the Commission has already taken some steps towards introduction of information technology for promoting transparency and introducing speed in handling the applications.
During the past two years, the PSC recommended 884 candidates for direct recruitment against a total of 4633 applicants, he added.
Mr Pandit said the Commission also recommended 2173 officers from various departments for promotion during the same period.
