Three accomplices of Ravi Poojari arrested
Mumbai, May 29 (UNI) Three accomplices of underworld don Ravi Poojari were arrested by the anti-extrotion cell (AEC) for accepting extortion money from a businessman here.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhananjay Kamlakar told mediapersons here today that the accused - Mohammed Nasir Mohammed Noor Hussain (27), Parag Chached (40) and Eknath Nikam (28) had demanded Rs 25 lakh from a businessman to allow him to run his business smoothly.
The businessman agreed to pay the money in installments.
Simultaneously, he lodged complaint with the extortion cell of Mumbai police.
The accused asked the businessman to bring Rs 5 lakh as first installment in a hotel at Kalina in Western suburbs on May 26, where the AEC sleuths laid a trap and nabbed the trio.
They were produced before the metropolitan court (holiday) yesterday, which remanded them to police custody till June five, Mr Kamlakar added.
