Slain TDP MLA's wife, son join Congress

Hyderabad, May 29 (UNI) Ms K Kalavatamma, wife of slain former TDP MLA Suryapratap Reddy, and her son K Venkatarami Reddy joined the Congress party here today.

PCC President Z K Keshava Rao admitted the two into the party along with their supporters. Earlier, the two met the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Suryapratap Reddy's murder had evoked sharp criticism from the TDP supremo and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who charged the Chief Minister and Panchayat Raj Minister J C Diwakar Reddy of being responsible for the murder. He had also alleged that the Chief Minister was eliminating all potential opposition leaders.

But surprisingly, the two joined the Congress.

They told newspersons that they had cordial relations with the party since a long time. They said they made allegations against Mr Diwakar Reddy due to old enmity and assured cooperation to the Congress party in future.
