SC directs MCD Junior Engineer to surrender
New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed a MCD Junior Engineer, sentenced to one month's simple imprisonment by Delhi high court for filing a false affidavit in relation to demolition of unauthorised constructions in Sainik farm houses in South Delhi, to surrender first.
A vacation bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and Lokeshwar Singh Panta directed the appeal filed by the petitioner S. Chauhan who was found guilty of contempt of court along with another JE R.S.
Sehrawat, for hearing on June 5 subject to the surrender by the petitioner.
Sehrawat has already been granted bail by the apex court.
Counsel for the petitioner mentioning the matter before the court said that the petitioner would surrender tomorrow and the court may hear the matter on Wednesday. The court declined the request to hear the matter before next Monday.
