Private Practitioners, LABS, MR to observe bandh
Rajkot, May 29: The anti-reservation agitation of medical students against the Centre's proposal on OBC quota, gained further momentum as the Indian Medical Association, Rajkot announced a medical strike tomorrow.
IMA Rajkot President Dr Amit Hapani told sources that nearly 450 private, medium and small hospitals will observe the bandh tomorrow in support of the striking medical students.
''As per the guidelines of the IMA, we have given the bandh call tomorrow,'' Dr Hapani said.
Besides, private clinics, nearly 45 medical laboratories would join the bandh. Medical stores in the city will remain closed tomorrow in support of the bandh call, Dr Hapani said.
He further said that Ayurvedic Association, Homeopathy Doctors and nearly 400 Medical Representatives (MR) have also given full support to the bandh call.
Meanwhile, medical students and members of the Indian Medical Association here took out a massive rally last evening from the Kisan Para Chowk against the reservation for Other Backward Castes.
