New timings for Samjautha Express
Attari, May 29 (UNI) The bi-weekly Attari-Lahore Samjhauta Express today left Attari at 1230 hrs instead of 1530 hrs under the revised timings, for the convienence of the passengers.
The train will leave Attari for Lahore at 1230 hours on every Monday and return the following day at 1130 hours. The second run of the train in the week would be on Fridays and Saturdays.
Earlier, the train used to arrive here from Lahore on Mondays and Fridays and returned back on the same day. On the return journey the train used to leave Attari at 1530 hours and on most occasions it used to get delayed which caused great inconvienence to the passengers.
The new time table will remain in force for the next six months.
During these six months Indian railway coaches instead of Pakistan railway coaches will ply on the route. This inter-change of coaches is part of the agreement signed between the two countries. There will be no inter-change of the diesel engine and a Pakistan railways engine will continue to be used for hurling the coaches of both the countries.
Station Master S K Madaan said that the new time table will minimise the stay of the Lahore-bound passengers at the railway station.
He said the New Delhi-Attari special will arrive here on Mondays and Fridays at 0430 hours and its coaches will form the Samjhauta Express. The return journey to New Delhi from here would be on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
