Nayeem questiones Baichung's commitment

Kolkata, May 29 (UNI) Former national coach Sayed Nayeemuddin today questioned national captain Baichung Bhutia's commitment towards the country's soccer while he sought a formal inquiry into India's below par performance in the Asian qualifiers.

Talking to reporters here today, Nayeem alleged that the captain held meeting with the players after practice and goalkeeper coach Atanu Bhattacharyya was not allowed in those meetings.

Nayeemuddin said, ''On the hindsight seeing the way the players and some officials have complained about me and my way of working, I don't think they played up to their potential.'' ''We need to formally look into the things. The AIFF should inquire. On returning I learnt that the captain held meeting with the players everyday after practice, but goalkeeper coach Atanu Bhattacharya was not allowed to enter the meeting,'' Nayeem alleged.

Baichung Bhutia has been the mainstay of Indian attack for the last decade and had been awarded the NFL player of the year recently for his all-round performance.
