Indefinite curfew imposed in Aligarh

Aligarh, May 28 (UNI) An indefinite curfew was imposed in Saasani Gate, Dehli Gate and Kotwali areas of Aligarh town tonight, following the violence that erupted after a local BJP leader was shot at and critically wounded.

Official sources told UNI that a local BJP leader O P Gupta was today shot at by armed assailants in a shop at Dehli Gate. He was admitted to a hospital and was stated critical, they said.

Meanwhile, one of the attackers was caught by the people and thrashed severely. Following this, violent clashes hit different places of the city, in which at least three people were reportedly wounded, sources added.

The security of the town was also increased.
