Gold production up at 1.35192 tonnes

New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) Gold production in the country in April 2006 was up at 1.35192 tonnes against the target of 0.899664 tonnes, according to official estimates.

Of this, Hutti Gold Mines Ltd (HGML) produced 0.17692 tonnes, Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) 0.034 tonnes and Hindalco Industries Ltd (HINDALCO) 1.141 tonnes.

Hutti Gold Mines produces gold from ore and HINDALCO and HCL produce the yellow metal as a by-product while producing copper.
