Kottayam, May 29 (UNI) Rubber Board Chairman Sajen Peter today urged scientists to explore the possibilities of formulating Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in the Rubber sector, based on the Kyoto Protocol.
The Rubber tree removes large amount of Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere, thereby reducing the green house effect. So new plantations were eligible for getting ''Carbon credits'', according to the protocol.
The Chairman was delivering the inaugural address at the Working Groups of the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) at the Rubber Research Institute India here.
The third meeting of the Working Group on Natural Rubber protein allergy and the fourth meeting of the expert group on promotion of natural Rubber as an environment Friendly raw material and renewable resource, which are being hosted by the Rubber Board India this year are expected to provide a forum to discuss various technical aspects of Natural Rubber Latex protein allergy and the green image of Natural Rubber.
