Five people sentenced in corruption case
Patna, May 29 (UNI) Special CBI judge of Patna Jawahar Prasad Ratnesh today awarded three years of rigorous imprisonment each to five people in a case of cheating, forgery and corruption.
The designated judge found Shivnarayan Bansal, Chethru Singh, Ramjee Prasad Jaiswal, Balmukund Jaiswal and Ashok Kumar Jaiswal, all businessmen, guilty under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 45,000 on accused Shivnarayan Bansal, Rs 15,000 on accused Chethru Singh and Rs 5,000 each on the remaining three accused.
According to the charges, all the convicts in collusion with a former manager of Mohania branch in Rohtas district of State Bank of India A K Srivastav caused wrongfull loss to the Bank by committing forgery in Bank records in 1982. Accused Mr Srivastav died during the trial and cheated the Bank worth over Rs 13 lakh.
