Dunlop talks drag to next month

Kolkata, May 29(UNI) The problem over reopening of Dunlop remained unresolved even as the West Bengal Government held a tripartite meeting today.

Labour Minister Mrinal Banerjee held a meeting with Dunlop Company Chairman Pawan Kumar Ruia and representatives of trade unions after holding separate sessions them over the arrear payment to workers, the issue hindering early reopening of the closed factory even after change of hands.

Mr Ruia told reporters after the four-hour-long dialogues that further discussions would be held on June five.

He, however, said the factory would be reopened in September-October.

INTUC State Committee General Secretary Pramathesh Sen and CITU-backed Dunlop Workers' Federation General Secretary Dipankar Roy said the differences over the size of arrear amount persisted with both the management and the unions sticking to their points.

They, however, said the discussions were positive and the workers wanted the factory to reopen as early as possible.
