Congress blames CPI(M) for post-poll violence in Bengal
Kolkata, May 29 (UNI) West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee(WBPCC) today charged the ruling CPI(M) with being responsible for the recent spurt in post-poll violence in different areas of the state targeting rival party workers.
Holding the CPI(M) responsible for the murder of a senior Congress worker at Rejinagar in Murshidabad district last night, WBPCC acting president Pradeep Bhattacharya in a statement here said another party worker was severely assaulted for working as the Congress agent in the district in the just concluded Assembly elections.
Urging the state administration and the Left Front leaders to take immediate action to prevent such senseless viiolence against rival party workers allegedly by the ruling party cadres, Mr Bhattacharya threatened to launch a statewide agitation if no immediate action was taken.
He, however, categorially denied reversal of any such incident in the Congress-dominated areas, where some ruling party workers were allegedly manhandled by the Congress workers.
