CM inaugurates police data, network centre
Hyderabad, May 29 :Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today called upon the state police to be more people friendly and transparent.
Inaugurating the AP Police Computer Data and Network Centre at the Director-General of Police (DGP) office here, the chief minister appreciated the efforts to modernise the state police.
He said there was all round appreciation for'Greyhounds', the special force formed 25 years ago in the state to tackle insurgency.
Mr Reddy however said custodial deaths were a big blot on the state administration.
Director General of Police (DGP) Swaranjit Sen said the state police was the first to have such an advanced data center in the country.
He said the new Data Centre would help crime investigation and enable web mode of investigation and monitoring module.
Already Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Srikakulam, Visakapatnam, Ranga Reddy and Cyberabad were available online and more districts like Vijayanagaram, East and West Godavari districts, Khammam, Karimnagar, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Kurnool and Chittoor would be online by June, he said.
Mr Sen said the public can avail of information on the status of case investigation, court trial and other information through this network.
The DGP said the police had planned to set up a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System integrating the fire force and ambulance service.
