CM directs officials to recruit linemen

Hyderabad, May 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today instructed the officials to finalise the guidelines for recruitment of 7,114 junior linemen on contract basis and issue a notification in one week in this regard.

The Chief Minister, who held a detailed review meeting on the performance of Discoms and AP Transco in his chambers at the Secretariat, said with the appointment of new linemen, the breakdowns could be immediately attended to and thereby ensuring more quality and reliable power supply.

The officials said out of a total of 22.5 lakh capcitors to be fixed to the agricultural pumpsets all over the state, 18 lakh capacitors were installed covering about 75.60 per cent till date.

Expressing satisfaction over the status of installation of capacitors, Dr Reddy directed the officials to speed up 1x500 MW Kothagudem Thermal Power Station(KTPS)-Stage VI as coal linkage was cleared.

The officials explained that electrification to 13,013 habitations and 43,36,635 rural households at an estimated cost of Rs 802.57 crore under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyudeekaran Yojana has been programmed in three years.

During 2005-06, altogether 4,387 habitations and 2,89,569 rural households have been electrified.
