CIDC to ink deal with MP, Bihar govts
Bhopal, May 29 (UNI) With the twin objectives of providing better employment opportunities and training to labourers in the construction industry, the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) have decided to forge an understanding with the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
''The regime has agreed in principle. This state and neighbouring Chhattisgarh have an abundance of such labourers who do not get their due as they are unskilled,'' CIDC Director-General P R Swaroop told reporters here today.
The CIDC would provide training in 47 disciplines at industrial training institutes and on completion of training even overseas options would open up.
''The domestic requirement for skilled labourers in the infrastructure sector is 76 lakh. In five years, we have trained more than 24,000 labourers and 15,000 supervisors. Contracts were inked with Rajasthan and Haryana,'' Mr Dwaroop added.
