2 BJP councillors convicted in post-Godhra rioting case
Anand, Gujarat, May 29 (UNI) A fast track court here today sentenced four persons, including two BJP councillors, to five years' imprisonment after finding them guilty of rioting in the aftermath of the Godhra carnage in 2002.
The four were held guilty of setting a few shops on fire in Anand town during the riots that broke out following the Godhra train carnage.
Fast track court judge (Ms) S C Srivastava convicted Alpesh Patel and Sachin Patel (both sitting BJP councillors), Ashok Patel and Ashok Banarasi and sentenced them to five years in prison.
