South-West Monsoon active over Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, May 28 (UNI) Scores of houses were damaged in sea erosion and floods as South West Monsoon hovered vigorously over Kerala during the past 24 hours.
Official sources said today that while 40 houses were damaged in sea erosion in the coastal belts of Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts, several houses were damaged in other parts of the state.
Three fishing boats were damaged at Chaliyam after the sea turned rough. A landslip was also reported near Kakkayam dam site. But no one was injured.
Weather office said Karippur Airport and Thrissur received the maximum of 15 cm rainfall during the past 24 hours.
Kannur received 14 cm, followed by Kozhikode 13 cm and Cochin International Airport, Aluva, Aminideep and Irikkur eight each.
The other chief amounts of rainfall in cms are: Kochi Airport and Kottayam six each, Alappuzha, Kumarakom, Thodupuzha and Varkala five each.
It will continue to rain in most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep in the next 48 hours.
