'Pressurise Centre for ordinance on reservation'
Pondicherry, May 28: The Struggle Committee for Social Justice (SCSJ) today urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to adopt a resolution in the territorial assembly pressurising the Centre to pass an ordinance providing 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes in higher education.
Strongly condemning the opposition to the Centre's proposed 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher education across the country, convenor of the Committee G Sugumaran, in a statement here pointed out the announcement of the Tamil Nadu Governor during his address to the Assembly that a resolution supporting the reservation would soon be adopted in the Assembly.
He demanded that the territorial administration should also adopt such a resolution in the session begining here tomorrow.
He called upon the oppressed to unite to ovecome the agitation by ''forces opposing the reservation'' and said that political parties should take the initiative in this direction.
