Lloyd praises West Indies team for stunning series win

Port of Spain, May 28 (UNI) West Indies' stunning series victory over the higher ranked Indian team has prompted none other than former captain Clive Lloyd to praise the achievement of Lara's men.

''It is an excellent victory for us. We've beaten a team that is way above us in the rankings. It is a team that has beaten England and Pakistan,'' Lloyd told Daily Nation.

He said West Indies will be a force to reckon with in the next year's Cricket World Cup.

''We should be proud of what we've achieved. We've got to take it series by series. They are doing very well. They are gelling well together. I think that by the time the World Cup comes around, we'll have a pretty good team,'' Lloyd, who is also the chairman of the WICB's cricket committee, added.

Lloyd also praised the leadership of Brian Lara saying that the southpaw ''has been around for a while. He knows the game.
