Livestock pathogen destroying product launched

Bangalore, May 28 (UNI) City-based Caretech Organics India Ltd has developed a product capable of destroying pathogens in livestock, poultry feed and drinking water, claimed to be the first of its kind in the entire Asia Pacific region.

Talking to newspersons after launching the product 'Viruzol', company Chairman and Managing Director Renu Kumar said it contained only organic acids and natural acids, and not any chemical agent.

He said defining, identifying, continuously monitoring and declaring 'disease free zones' would be a pre-requisite to tap the international market for animal feed and animal products, especially in the backdrop of the recent bird flu episode. Caretech organic products would help the farmers in following the recommendations of both 'disease free zone' certification and 'organic poultry farming certification requirements.

Mr Kumar said the recent havoc of bird flu had put the farming and consumer communities of the country in serious discomfort, resulting in accumulated losses of over Rs 20,000 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, University of Veterinary Sciences Vice- Chancellor K Srinivasa Gowda said ensuring cleanliness and hygienic environment around poultry farms was the only way to prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases in poultry farms and protect the industry from disaster. Poultry farmers should accord priority to better sanitation and bio-security, he added.
