Hizb condemns attack on tourists; terms it conspiracy
Srinagar, May 28 (UNI) The Hizbul Mujahideen, the single largest indigenous militant outfit operating in Jammu and Kashmir, has termed as a ''conspiracy'' the recent attacks on tourists here.
''The attacks on tourists are part of a conspiracy to defame the militants who have nothing to do with the incidents,'' a Hizb spokesman told a local news agency here.
Condemning the attacks, he alleged that these were carried out to downplay the successful strikes of militants in the past few days.
He also condemned the alleged harassment of members of the Kashmiri Pandit community by the security forces in south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Pulwama last week.
These incidents are an eye-opener for those who blame the militants for such acts, the spokesman said.
''The members of minority community have been killed by troops in the past too, and a probe was ordered only in the Chattisinghpora massacre,'' he claimed.
