Hissar sizzles at 46 Deg C
Chandigarh, May 28 (UNI) The heat wave conditions today continued to prevail in several parts of the northwest plains and Hisar remained the hottest in the region with the maximum of 46 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal.
It was four degrees above normal in Amritsar which recorded the maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees C. Ludhiana and Patiala recorded the maximum of 40.2 degrees C and 38.4 degrees C respectively.
The day temperature, however, remained four degrees below normal in Ambala (37.2 C) and three degrees below normal in Karnal (36.7 C).
Shimla, the capital hill station of Himachal Pradesh, recorded the maximum of 27.5 C, which was three degrees above normal. Bhunter was hot at 35 C, three degrees above normal.
The city and its surrounding areas of Punjab and Haryana recorded the maximum of 38 C, one degree below normal.
The weather forecast here said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers would likely occur at a few places in Himachal Pradesh. Dust storm or thunder storm with light rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana.
