FIR registered against Gulbarga MP

Gulbarga, May 28 (UNI) Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against Gulbarga Lok Sabha member Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi for providing ''false'' assets documents while filing his nomination papers for the general elections in 2004.

Releasing a copy of the FIR to newspersons here today, former Minister S K Kanta said he had filed a complaint against the MP, citing a land he owned but shown as belonging to a trust.

He said the Deputy Commissioner had issued a ''show cause'' notice to the MP, but the latter termed the allegations as baseless and false in his statement on January 25. However, on inquiry, it was found that 0.33 acres had been registered in the name of the MP.

Consequently, the Station Bazaar police station registered the FIR.
