Doctors association backs reservation for OBCs
Chennai, May 28 (UNI) Members of the Doctors' Association for Social Equality today staged a demonstration in support of the 27 per cent Reservation in higher educational institutions for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Led by Dr A Seppan, Vice President of the association, the agitators demanded that the Centre promulgate an ordinance to implement the Reservation for OBCs from the current academic year onwards.
More than 300 doctors and medical students across the state, who had gathered in front of the Memorial hall here, shouted slogans against the medicos who were spearheading agitations against the Reservation.
They held placards, denouncing the anti-reservationists and hailing the Congress led UPA government for its bold decision to go ahead with Reservation.
Dr Ravindranath, General Secretary of the association said the association would organise a massive rally here in June to further press its demand that the Centre promulgate the ordinance to implement 27 per cent Reservation from this current academic year.
