Delegation submits memorandum to Sonia
Itanagar, May 28 (UNI) A 14-member delegation from Arunachal, led by Chief Minister Gegong Apang and Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Mukut Mithi, called on AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi today and submitted her a memorandum.
According to a faxed message from the national capital, the memorandum demanded the Congress chief to include all the 16 districts of the state under the Centrally sponsored National rural Employment Guarantee (NREG) scheme, besides conversion of state's lone Rajiv Gandhi University into a centrally varsity.
Out of the 16 districts, only Upper Subansiri district was included in the scheme.
Ms Gandhi, however, assured the delegation of looking into the matter with a positive response, the message said adding she further called upon the party leaders to play an active role in organisational matters of the party at the grassroot level.
The delegation also met Union Minister and party general secretary Oscar Fernandes.
